Monday 25th May

English – Log on to Socrative.com and complete today’s English quiz. Use the code gabriels6th to enter the quiz.
Reading: Before you read today write at least 3 predictions for your story. Read to someone or silent read for 15 minutes. When you are finished check were your predictions right?
Maths: Copy the sums from the sheet in the next blog post onto your paper or copy and solve them. If you take a photo and send it in an email I can let you know how you did! This will be the same for everyday this week just with a different sheet.
SPHE: Here is a message from Alex & Hannah about your transition pack
Hi Everyone,
 We hope you got on well with the first two pages of the booklet. For this week we are looking at your Hopes and Fears and the Daily Timetable. These 3 pages are really important as we can see what you're worried and excited about and you get to have a look at a school timetable that a 1st year would receive. Please do pages 3,4 and 5 this week and remember to send us a picture of your work by email or text. We love to see how you are getting on. 
PE – Can you come up with your own exercise alphabet? Write the letters A-Z- give each one an exercise and challenge yourself/you friends and family to exercise out their own names & favourite words.



Tuesday 26th May
Starter: Put your hands on your stomach. Take a deep breath- can you fill your tummy. Breath out and make a big sigh. Repeat 10 times.
Spelling City: 2 assigned activities
Reading: Read to someone or silent read for 15 minutes. Write a list of all the verbs (action/doing words) you have read.
Maths work: Copy the sums from the sheet in the next blog post onto your paper or copy and solve them. If you take a photo and send it in an email. I can let you know how you did!
English: Log on to Socrative.com and complete today’s quiz. Use the code gabriels6th to enter the quiz.
Drama: Write a one page T.V script between two characters in the book you are reading. In your script both characters are queuing to get in to a shop today. What would they say to each other? What are they feeling?
PE– Ask someone to time you or use a phone/watch to time yourself. In one minute see how many of each of the following you can do: (6min total)
1. Jumping Jacks. 2. Squats. 3. Lunges. 4. High Knees 5. Star Jumps 6. Push Ups.

Wednesday 27th May


Mindfulness: Put a timer on for one minute- think about all the things you are grateful for any why. Why not share some on our padlet? https://padlet.com/nglynn1/fx666h7cv6at

Reading: Read for 15 minutes. Write a limerick (short poem) about one of the characters in the book- see how to write one here https://redtri.com/how-to-write-a-limerick-with-kids/

Science: Look up an experiment that uses only things you already have in the house and try it out. Make sure an adult knows what you are doing. Take a picture and share it to the Padlet.

Thursday 28th May
Mindfulness– Think about one person to send good vibes to today!

Reading: 15 minutes reading to someone/ silent reading. Draw a map of the book’s setting.

History: Using the person you researched last week- use Google to make a timeline of their life from birth until know featuring some of their greatest achievements. Check this video out to remember timelines
PE: Jog on the spot, around the room, in your garden or outside with an adult. How long can you jog for without stopping?


Friday 29th May
Mindfulness: Write a list of at least 5 good things that happened to you this week.
Spelling City: 2 assigned activities
Reading: Read aloud or silently for 15minutes. Write down 5 questions you would ask the author if you met them.

Draw a dot in the centre (about the size of a 2euro coin) of your copy page, a sheet or your device. Now think of all the possibilities it could be for one minute. Complete your picture and turn your dot into something amazing.
PE: Put your favourite song on and make up a dance routine or just free style and dance like crazy! Can you video call with your friends and see if they can do it too?

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to your 6th class transfer programme.
For this week, we ask you to complete the first 2 pages of the programme - The questionnaire and 'My Educational Journey So Far'. Please remember to send pictures by email or whatsapp to Hannah or Alex as we would love to see how you are getting on. 
PE – Do some short sprints outside. How far/fast can you run in 1 minute? Time yourself. If you can measure out 100m you could run 100m a few times and time yourself each time to see if you can beat your record.

Thursday 21st May
Mindfulness– Take a minute to close your eyes and be still. Take some deep breaths and feel the air filling and leaving your lungs.

SPHE: With an adults supervision help to load/empty/turn on the washing machine or dishwasher. You can practice this over the rest of the week/weekend.
PE: Pretend you are Joe Wicks and instruct someone in your house to do a short exercise circuit. You can make it as hard or easy as you like but don’t forget to join in with them!

Mindfulness: Think of your favourite memory of primary school. How did you feel that day? Who was there? Are you still friends now? What age were you then? What has changed since then?
Art: Think of your favourite memory from primary school. Draw a picture/illustration of the scene. Use whatever materials you have at home – paint, colours, sketching pencils etc. Don’t forget to share it with us on padlet. https://padlet.com/nglynn1/fx666h7cv6at

This week we have changed the way we do maths- use a page or your copy to take down and complete these sums. Click into the picture to make it bigger. Send me on your answers when you are done or if you have any questions ask at nglynn@stgabrielsprimary.ie.

15 minutes- Finish off your travel brochure from last week. Don’t forget to draw pictures and add in all the writing that you did. You can email it to me or post a picture of it on padlet!
5 minutes- Practice some of your samba soccer ball skills. How many can you remember?



Tuesday 12th May
1 minute – Sit comfortable position, close your eyes and imagine you are floating on top of a cloud. Relax all your muscles and let the cloud control your weight.
10 minutes – Spelling City: 2 assigned activities
5 minutes – Times tables: Choose an online game or make up your own to go over your times tables. If you make up your own send me a picture of it with some instructions so I can show everyone else.
15 minutes – Reading: Read to someone or silent read for 15 minutes. If you had to choose 3 words to describe the main character what would they be?
15 minutes – Maths work: As above, log on to Socrative.com and complete todays maths quiz using the code gabriels6th.
10 minutesProject work: This week I would like you to choose someone you admire or look up to & do a project on that person. You can do it in your copy/type it/make a poster/if you’re feeling adventurous, you could make a PowerPoint presentation.
It could be a singer (or band)/actor/sportsperson/author etc.
While you are deciding who to choose make a list/brainstorm all the people who you admire or look up to. Use this to help you decide who you will work on researching this week.
10 minutes– Create a short exercise circuit and ask someone at home to do the exercises with you. How many exercises can you include?

Wednesday 13th May


1 minute – Think of 3 things you are grateful for. Why not write them down or tell somebody what they are?

5 minutes – Times tables: As above.

15 minutes – Continuing your project from yesterday: Begin by researching their childhood: Where was this person born, where did they grow up, parents / siblings, where did they go to school, did they have a particular talent from a young age etc.
5 minutes – Practice your basketball skills, dribbling, shooting, passing etc. You can use a normal ball if you don’t have a basketball.

Thursday 14th May

5 minutes – Times tables: Choose an online game to practice your tables. You can use one of the ones I previously suggested or try one you remember playing from school.
15 minutes – Reading: 15 minutes reading to someone/ silent reading. Did you find any words you didn’t know/understand? Why not search for them in a dictionary or online.
15 minutes – Maths work: As above, log on to Socrative.com.
15 minutes - Project work: Continue from yesterday: What successes has he/she had in their career so far, what have they become most famous for, has he/she won any awards? 
Research any other questions that you have about your chosen person. Decorate your project / Draw a picture of the person and please email me a picture when you are finished, I would love to see it!
5 minutes – Exercise – Go for a short walk or jog with someone in your family within the 5km radius of your house.


Friday 15th May
1 minute – Give somebody in your family a compliment.
10 minutes – Spelling City: 2 assigned activities
10 minutes – Times tables: Ask someone at home to write you a test of 20 questions. Time yourself and see how fast you can complete it. Did you get them all right?
15 minutes – Reading: Draw a picture of the main setting of your story. Write a couple of sentences to describe the setting underneath your picture.
15 minutes – Maths work: as above log on to Socrative.com.
10 minutes – Finish your project from yesterday and email it to me or take a picture to post on the class padlet!
5 minutes – Exercise: Practice some stretches like we do in PE or try a Cosmic Yoga video on Youtube 😊
